In February 2024, I conducted a poll among our subscribers to gauge their interest in a modern job board specifically designed for leadership level positions in parks and recreation.

This email received the highest engagement we’ve seen, with 65% of recipients participating in the poll.

The results were clear:

91% of respondents said they would either use it to look for opportunities and/or advertise open positions.

1.) How do you attract top talent?

Parks & Recipes is a free resource, created to assist in the day-to-day tasks for busy parks and recreation departments across the country. In return, when people read our curated content, browse our 'recipes', or view our modern job board we humbly ask that people subscribe to our e-mail list.

Our users/subscribers are then sent an e-mail containing links to our website (or for sponsored job listings, your specific job opening) and they click, view, and apply to your job posting. 

2.) What data do you provide if we post a job?

We see an unprecedented engagement rate in the parks and recreation industry. Open Rates of ~50% and Click Rates of ~40%

The analytics report includes:

  • Email Stats: Open Rate, Unique Opens, Clicks, Unique Clicks

  • Web Stats: Job Board views, Job Listing views, Entries, # of visitors

3.) How do you compare to NRPA, State Associations, LinkedIn, Indeed, etc?

NRPA: Depending if your organization pays for a NRPA membership ($700 - $6,050) they sell a single 30-day job posting for $275 for members, and $385 for non-members.

State Associations: Varies significantly, but most times your organization must be a member ($). Likely limits candidates from viewing your listing to only those living within your own state/region.

Indeed/LinkedIn: Varies, but is about $150/month. While massive job boards like Indeed or LinkedIn cast a wide net, our focused approach means you won't be sifting through irrelevant applications.
